If you have been planning to do a kitchen or a bathroom remodel, but have been holding out because of high costs, you can use the Black Friday 2014 Sale on home improvement to save big and get the stuff you need for your project.

The Thanksgiving Season is the perfect time to remodel, because big box stores like Lowe’s, Home Depot, Sears and Ace Hardware, which typically do not offer major discounts during other holidays, choose to participate in the Black Friday Sales event and significantly slash their prices. For most people, the biggest remodeling costs (except for labor) are flooring, kitchen cabinets, appliances, tile, bathroom vanities, which can add up to 30-40% of the entire project cost. Well, these are exactly the items that get discounted during Black Friday, because big stores like Home Depot are looking to attract customers, who are all shopping during this time.

Best of all, both Lowe’s and Home Depot offer price matching (only in store), so if you find a Black Friday Ad where an item you want is listed for less, you can bring it in and get a price match. See a our spy list of Early and Leaked Black Friday 2014 Home Improvement & Remodeling Deals

Black Friday Remodeling Tips

Here are some tips to help you make sure that you get the best discounts for your remodeling project and actually get it done before Christmas!

1. Plan ahead.

Think about what you want to update the most in your house and aim for completing ONE major project (especially if you want to finish it by a certain date). Also, if you are planning to hire contractors, you need to give yourself time to find the right professional.

2. Set a budget and make a list of the items you need.

Create a detailed list of everything you need to complete the remodel. This will be very helpful once you start looking through the discounted items in the Black Friday ads. You will also be able to calculate how much you are saving on each item and track whether you are sticking with your budget. By saving on a number of things, you may be able to splurge on the one item you have been dreaming of having.

3. Be flexible and consider many options.

Perhaps you have been coveting a certain style of kitchen cabinets, etc., but if something similar turns out to be on sale, consider buying it. You will have something close to what you originally envisioned and feel great about finishing your remodel, rather than pining for something you cannot afford and stalling on the project.

4. Start looking for early Black Friday Sales

If you do your homework and search the web, you can find leaked Black Friday ads to many of the stores selling home improvement items 2-3 weeks prior to the actual Sales event.

Also, check out your local home improvement and remodeling specialty stores that sell cabinets, windows, flooring, tile, etc. Chances are, many of these smaller stores are also looking to get some extra business and will offer discounts that you wouldn’t normally see (sales may be advertised in a local newspaper or on their website).
